In June 2021, the letter of commitment submitted by Shanying International to Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), which proposed a scientific carbon reduction goal that went beyond 2℃ control, was officially approved, symbolizing that Shanying International had become the advanced paper manufacturer that set a scientific Greenhouse gas GHG emission target in China.
Science Based GHG Emissions Targets of Shanying International: Carbon intensity per unit product in Scope 1 and Scope 2 reduced by 39% by 2030 compared to 2020 (base year); Carbon intensity per unit product in Scope 3 reduced by 20% by 2030 compared to 2020 (base year).
In 2023, the company's annual carbon reduction targets were exceeded, with a total progress of 86% towards achieving the scientific carbon targets for Scope 1 and Scope 2, and 43% towards achieving the scientific carbon targets for Scope 3.
Shanying International are actively endeavoring to obtain the carbon management system certification. 5 papermaking bases in China passed the review of EATNS carbon management system successfully and and become the first enterprise in the papermaking industry that has obtained corresponding carbon management system certification.
For 1 ton of waste paper recycled & reused, the carbon dioxide emission will be reduced 1.46 tons.
Recover 8 million+ tons of recycled fibers, and avoid CO2 emissions by 12.64 million tons/year
For the utilization of 1 ton of straw, the carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced 1.64 tons.
Photovoltaic power generation: total installed capacity of 116.45MW, including self-consumption of photovoltaic power of 64,534.03 MWh, equivalent to avoiding 34,628.96 tons of CO2 emissions.
Biomass power generation: Jilin Shanying efficiently generated electricity with corn straw residue, sawdust and waste paper pulp as raw materials, and used the ash produced from straw biomass power generation for agricultural production, generating steam of about 189,000 tons and power of about 2.646 million kWh, and reducing CO2 emission by about 100,000 tons per year.
